Hitting a Wall and Other Things....

Things have been so crazy busy around here lately. Today I finally hit the wall, slid down and crumpled to the ground. Staying up too late, getting up too early, making sure everyone is well cared for and totally neglecting myself. Isn't that how it is for most mothers these days? We put ourselves on the bottom of the list and eventually we get bumped right off. Now I know why so many women are SO bitchy! I can totally relate!

Every minute of every single day you will find me doing something. With three small children, trying to sell a house and keep it clean, running an Etsy shop, and a million other things that need to be done, there just isn't enough time in the day for me. So I did what most men would do if left alone at home with the kids - I sat on the couch and watched tv. I fed the kids Smarties for breakfast and let them run around in their pajamas all day. And best of all - I did absolutely NO housework. I have to say it was the most relaxing day I've had in ages. I don't feel like ripping anyones head off or cursing a blue streak and slamming doors. Maybe tonight I'll go to sleep and dream about hunky men sweeping me off my feet instead of sleep-yelling at the children. :)

Making pendants day after day is great, but I needed something different to do. So I took advantage of slow Etsy sales and used my 'spare time' to make some stuff with all the fabric I've been buying over the past year. It was originally intended to be used for sewing, but I am hesitant to set up my sewing machine. I'm afraid it will either bring me much frustration or I will get so addicted to it that I won't be able to stop. Maybe once we're all settled in our new house I will make a real attempt at sewing. In the meantime, I've whipped up a few no-sew fabric key fobs. These things are great for crazy mothers such as myself who need at least a dozen extra hands and whose brains are slightly foggy from sleep deprivation. I've got several listed in my shop here.

  2. Hello! Wow! Love the key fobs! I also feel your pain in the mommy/wife/family department! I am just beginning to wrap my head around the notion of putting myself first at times...to keep the balance of putting them first the majority of time. Got to keep your sanity! Thanks for the post!

    Warmly,

  3. It sounds like we're in the same boat with the three-kids-up-too-late-and-too-early-what-about-me life! Yes, and art, too! Hope you're finding ways to refresh.
