Simple is Better

Had a nice relaxing Sunday out at my parent's place. They live in a cozy, quiet little town a couple hours away. We all sat out in the fresh air and relaxed while the kids ran wild, ate ice cream cones and chased Miso the dog. It was just nice to sit and do nothing and not have to worry about anything. My mom made amazing food and the coffee was wonderfully strong.

The drive home was bittersweet. It's always sad leaving my parent's place. The visit never seems long enough you know? I snapped this picture of the sunset just before it disappeared. Prairie sunsets are gorgeous and this one was bright pink and absolutely breathtaking. It's a little blurry but pretty nonetheless:

I love driving on the highway at night. It's so calm and peaceful. Pitch blackness and the twinkling of lights off in the distance. Glowing sets of eyes on the roadside and owls perched on telephone poles. Just enough creepiness to make the hairs on your arms stand up.
