Summer Officially Begins

Today was the last day of Kindergarten for my daughter. There was a cute little ceremony where all the kids sang songs, goodies were served and all the moms tried not to cry. I can't believe how emotional it was! Now I know why my mom always had tears in her eyes during Christmas concerts when I was little. I had to keep biting the inside of my lip to prevent a bunch of crazy sobbing from erupting. I swear, when you're the mother of small children, you're also always on the verge of a nervous breakdown. But we manage to keep our shit together. That's what women do best.

Here she is accepting her certificate:

I'm looking forward to a nice relaxing summer sipping coffee, flipping through magazines and lounging in the sun. Oh who am I kidding?! My days will likely be filled with the usual chaos of children coming in and out of the house, multiple wardrobe changes, various poop-related incidents, fighting, screaming, endless piles of laundry & dishes, sticky fingerprints on walls, stepping on Hotwheels cars and almost killing myself, covering scraped knees with bandaids, chasing escaping toddlers down the street, crouching in a corner and weeping....and that's all just in ONE day! Maybe I should get to bed..I'm getting tired just thinking about it!
