School Bus Driving

I've recently discovered that one of the best feelings in the world is setting a goal and then taking the necessary steps to accomplish that goal. The toughest part is simply not letting the fear of failure deter me. I can do WHATEVER I want. Just watch me. :)

I've spent the entire month familiarizing myself with this beast currently parked in front of my house. One of the local bus drivers has been kind enough to help me learn the ropes.

Sure, maybe I'm a little too short to properly reach the gas pedal, but that's nothing a good pair of high heeled boots can't solve. ;)

I've driven this bus up and down gravel roads, highways and through small towns.

I know the proper procedure for stopping at uncontrolled railway crossings and I've nearly mastered 2 point turns.

You might think there's not really much to driving a school bus, but you'd be wrong. Currently I'm learning how to properly perform a circle check which involves 18 very detailed steps.

I can pop the hood on this beast and tell you if there's anything wrong with the belts, hoses, wiring and determine if any of the fluids are low. I can tell you if the tire pressure is low or if there are any loose or rusty lug nuts.

I can also tell you that I'm definitely going to possibly need duct tape or invest in a better bra while driving this bus. It's one hell of a bumpy ride!

The kids hang out with me on the bus sometimes, but I'm not actually allowed to drive with passengers until I pass the road test.

I can't wait to take this little guy for a ride someday. :)

My road test is coming up soon. I'll keep you posted.
