Sugar Detox & Other Stuff

Today I'm going to try my hardest to completely avoid the temptation of Halloween candy. I've been filling my tummy with ripe pears and steel cut oatmeal instead of mini chocolate bars and tiny bags of Cheetos. I've managed to distract myself from snacking by doing loads of laundry, cleaning out the fridge and periodically opening the front door and screaming obscenities.

The children's whining and fighting is also the perfect distraction since it's usually non-stop throughout the day. Normally this is the behavior that causes me to seek out the comfort of chocolate in the first place, but now I've decided to use it to my advantage. Clever, right?

I've also moved my elliptical trainer from the dark and cramped laundry room out into the dining room/living room area where it's bright and sunny (and I can see the television ;)

So I really can't speculate as to how this will unfold today. I may succeed or I may be found weeping in the corner later with a chocolate smeared face surrounded by candy wrappers. I'll let you know how it goes ;)

See this kitty? You do NOT want to mess with her.

Here she is practicing her stealthy Ninja moves.

Her practice paid off because she finally caught her first mouse!
I discovered the grizzly scene this morning in the bathroom. Actually, it wasn't that bad. There was no blood involved or anything like that. Only a triumphant looking cat and a little mouse that had probably been batted around for a little too long. I felt sorry for it despite the fact that one of it's relatives has been munching gluttonously on Cheerios in my cupboard.

In other news, another one of my photos was used on the front page of our local newspaper this week:

My sister Teri also had one of her gorgeous photos featured on the front page of the Market Connection:

The photography bug clearly runs in our family. My dad has been taking amazing photos and winning awards for years.

Well I'd better go and carry on with my day. The dodging of mini chocolate bars & other sweets will definitely make it a long one!
