August Break 2011 - Day 21

We all had a great sleep last night and everything was so harmonious and calm this morning. I fed the kids and then they all wandered off happily to play. No fighting or whining. It was really weird, but I didn't question it :)
I wasted no time and grabbed my coffee, book & camera and headed outside for some morning meditation.
I watched this butterfly for a good couple of minutes before it finally dawned on me to actually take a picture of it. I had my Nikon sitting right infront of me :) I got in a few shots of it before the puppy jumped up and scared it away.

I sat for quite a long time enjoying the peaceful morning and reading Eckhart Tolle's book The Power of Now. It's one of those books that I'm always reading. If I finish it, I just start over again. Or I'll just grab it randomly and start reading whatever page I open it to.

Anyway, the following quote really resonates with me:

"Always say 'yes' to the present moment. What could be more futile, more insane, than to create inner resistance to what already is? What could be more insane than to oppose life itself, which is now and always now? Surrender to what is. Say 'yes' to life — and see how life suddenly starts working for you rather than against you."

— Eckhart Tolle

Surrender to what IS.

If you can figure out how to do that, everything is pretty awesome - no matter what's happening in your life.
Inner peace.

  1. But what if "it" involves a crying baby with acid reflux who isn't sleeping in the middle of the night? AGAIN. Something tells me Eckhart never had one of them... =P *le sigh*

  2. Aw..poor little guy:( I hope he feels better.

I totally feel your pain. Sleep deprivation is the worst kind of torture for mothers - along with whining & fighting..and on and on.

If Eckhart put out a book about motherhood, I'd be all over it. Oh, and one that deals with men & dating :)

Hope your day goes well with your little monkey. :)
