August Break 2011 - Day 28

A few months back I picked up the book Crazy Sexy Diet by Kris Carr. I devoured all 230 pages in just a couple of evenings and it sparked in me the desire to get super healthy.

'The Crazy Sexy Diet is a low fat, vegetarian program that reduces inflammation and balances the pH of your dazzling body with lush whole foods, low glycemic fruits , raw veggies, alkalizing green drinks, and superpowered smoothies.'

Now that I've gotten my hands on a juicer, I'm ready to give this program a serious whirl. I think I'm actually already turning into a juicing maniac. Could be worse things to be I suppose ;)

This morning, after sweating my butt off on the elliptical for 30 minutes, I made myself a refreshing drink to chug afterwards. I took half of a peeled cucumber, half a cantaloupe, a peach and a splash of lime juice and voila! Instant nectar of the gods. SO good. I put it in a stemless wine glass over ice so I feel all fancy when I'm drinking it ;)
I'm hoping I can get the kids in on the action one day. So far the only part about juicing they like is putting the chunks of fruit & veggies into the juicer and watching the juice come out. They wrinkle their little freckled noses up at the sight of the actual drink :)
 
It feels good to take care of myself properly. I put myself ahead of the piles of laundry, the bathroom that needs a good scrubbing and the dishes in the sink. I think it's more important that I'm a happier and healthier mom for my kids as opposed to an exhausted, half crazy woman with a spotless house.
