Chai Tea and Jam Thumbs

I was sick with tonsillitis last week and I think the medication I'm taking is messing with my taste buds. This has resulted in the taste of coffee being absolutely repulsive to me. I brewed myself a cup this morning to see if my palate was back to normal yet. I took a swig and almost spit it out. It was sad :/
So, to replace my morning coffee, I started making myself giant cups of Chai tea. It's delicious and it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy and happy when I drink it :)
I make mine with vanilla soy milk or almond milk and then add extra nutmeg, cloves and cinnamon. I think it might actually be better than coffee.  (Blasphemy! :)
I found myself all caught up on stuff today so I decided to start on some official holiday baking. I'm not really sure if I actually even LIKE baking. I'm kind of a klutz in the kitchen and tend to either undercook or overcook things. I blame it on my oven ;)  I make such a huge mess too - flour everywhere and batter in my hair....ugh. Oh well :)
I made a couple dozen raspberry orange thumbprint cookies from the Betty Crocker Christmas cookie magazine I picked up last week. They turned out pretty good - although they look like a 5 year old made them. LOL In my defense, I was doing a million other things while making these so perhaps they're not as perfect as the picture in the cookbook. They sure taste yummy though. I ate two just to make sure :)
Off to get the rugrats ready for bed. But first Catie needs a bath because she thought it would be a great idea to do her makeup with a blue washable marker - eyeshadow and lipstick. It's not as washable as you'd think :/ Seamus managed to cover the entire living room floor with toys...and somebody put socks in the toilet upstairs. Nothing surprises me much anymore. Valium would be nice...:)

  1. Maybe a little late, but an oven thermometer might help you resolve your cooking issues.
