Settling in for Winter

It's getting more and more difficult to get the kids out of their cozy beds on these dark, cold mornings. I can't really blame them though. I'd rather not leave my bed either :)
I summon as much cheerfulness and patience as I can each morning, giant cup of coffee in hand, my eye twitching ever so slightly. Promises of steamed milk in fancy cups with cinnamon sprinkled on top usually gets them moving pretty quickly.
Getting three mini humans ready for a day of school is a big job some days. Last minute wardrobe changes, missing shoes and brawls over the last fruit roll up. As the school bus drives away, I smile with relief...and then wonder if there's anything I've forgotten to do. As long as everybody leaves wearing shoes, I consider my job to be done.

The past couple of days have been so nice and warm. The fall evenings are gorgeous. These pictures were all taken while I wandered around the backyard a few evenings ago. It was perfectly quiet and peaceful out there. I sat on the grass and just took a few deep breaths and soaked it all up.

In the center of the picture below, you can see a giant crow's nest. I kind of actually miss the loud squawking of the baby crows that used to accompany my morning coffee. It's pretty quiet outside these days.

I've been happily creating on the days when all of the kids are in school. I force myself to ignore the housework that I feel like I should be doing and I crank up the music and do what I want instead :)

I try to remember to apply that principle to all areas of my life. Bliss ♥

My work is now featured at The Analog - art. craft. design. Contemporary Art Gallery in Regina. It's a funky little space which is part of The Artful Dodger Cafe & Music Emporium. Check it out :)

Well I better get back to ignoring the laundry and get some real work done. Time seems to fly by in huge chunks on the days I have to myself. :)
